The Effectiveness of the Therapist"s Workbook Utilizing Group Activity: An Exploratory Study on the Effect of the Therapist"s Workbook

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine how the workbook for the self-analysis and psychological growth of therapists affects the child within and irrational beliefs of therapist. For four months, there were total 8 sessions of group meetings with 2-week intervals in experimental group. Each meeting was done for two hours. Eight experts(clinical psychologist, counselor, art therapist) in the fields of mental health conducted the therapist"s workbook, and the child within and irrational belief were compared with the control group. The major results of the present study were as follow: the group using the workbook had a significantly positive change in the child within temperament and the overall irrational belief than those of the control group. Also, irrational beliefs related to other"s approval, the fear of negative evaluation from people, avoid tendency from people, and self-worthiness based on external achievement had positive changes. But, there was no meaningful change on irrational beliefs related to helplessness and loss of control in the experimental group. The implications and limitations of this study, and suggestions of further research were discussed.
